DESIGN QUESTIONS: |
 |
|
Q: |
WHAT'S IT
GOING TO COST TO DESIGN MY WEBSITE? |
|
A: |
ICUgro Inc. makes every
effort to keep your costs as low as possible. Here is what
we do and don't do to make that happen:
 |
 |
ICUgro Inc. does not charge by the page or
by the hour.
|
 |
In most cases, after assessing the Website
needs of the client, ICUgro Inc.
immediately gives the client a fixed cost for
the project - plus or minus 5%.
|
 |
A specific
number of graphics
are included. If
additional graphics
are added to the project at a later
date, additional charges are added at that time.
|
 |
In most cases, unless
changes are made during the development of the Website,
you will know from the
beginning what the project is going to cost.

|
Q: |
HOW LONG
WILL IT TAKE TO DESIGN MY WEBSITE? |
|
A: |
In most
cases the duration of the project is determined by the
flow of information coming to ICUgro Inc. The longer
it takes to get all of the information needed, the longer
it takes to complete a project. Projects can be
completed in a matter of weeks if the information in
delivered in a timely manner. |

SEARCH ENGINE / WEBSITE TRAFFIC QUESTIONS |
|
Q. |
IS IT TRUE
THAT BUSINESSES CAN BUY THEIR WAY INTO GOOD SEARCH ENGINE
RANKINGS? |
|
A. |
There are
search engines
that allow you to place a bid in order to get your
listing. The more you pay, the better your listing. But
if you are talking about the main
stream search engines such as Google and AltaVista,
the answer is no. Most people
want their Website to pop up in the top10 of any
search engine or directory, but
the way search engines currently
liste Websites, no-one can
absolutely guarantee a specific ranking
for a Website. We design with registration in
mind. If you talk to a designer or
Website manager who does
not mention registration in the search
engines, it means that they do not design to the
specifications necessary to get you good search engine
rankings. Search engine registration is
an integral part of our
design critteria. |

Q. |
My
friend's Website homepage gets one hundred hits per day.
Is that good? |
|
A. |
That depends on the page
construction. What is a 'hit'? Simply put, a 'hit' is
counted by the server for each piece of
information that is requested. One page can
have many 'hits' associated with it. For example, each
graphic on the page is counted as a 'hit'. If I have a
small homepage with no graphics
and I am getting 100 'hits' per day, I would probably be
getting close to 100 different viewings of my Homepage per
day. If the Homepage has five graphics on it, I have at
least six 'hits' on the Homepage. This is where we have to
do some math. You can see where this is going. If I have a
moderately sized Website, 100 'hits' could be registered
by only one person logging in. The actual number of people
logging into a Website is a fraction of the number of
'hits' logged. What you need to know is
how many people have logged into your Website per day, not
how many 'hits' there have been. |
